HVAC systems are design to last long enough that you would still support the manufacturer after it fails. This is typically 15 years with normal use and normal care. Premature HVAC system failures are not in the manufacturer’s best interests.
Considering the cost of new HVAC equipment, it makes the most sense to get the equipment to last as long as possible. That means you will need to do more than what the manufacturer recommends. Because what the manufacturer recommends only gets the equipment to last 15 years.
Imagine if you could get your HVAC system to run an additional 10 years. What would that mean to your budget?
$120,000/15yrs = $8,000
$120,000/25yrs = $4,800
As you can see it would nearly cut your annualized costs of ownership in half. That is significant!
